Best wishes for 2009!

Happy New Year!

It's been over a month since my last update. And as you can probably gather from the content of my last update, life has been pretty busy!

I've been working hard at building my new company, Zen Point. It's been going great. Zen Point had achieved profitability even before I had finished serving my notice at Vitrium! Since my biggest concern with starting a company was "when will it start making money," I couldn't be happier with the results!

I already have three clients occupying a large part of my work week. My only problem at this point is that I'm working too hard to find time for business development. I need to find time to look for more contracts, finish the Zen Point website (it's still not IE6 compatible!), and do the other myriad of tasks required to run a company. But having too much work is a good problem to have!

I'm planning to start a Zen Point blog as well. How I'll find time to keep it updated is beyond me, considering I have enough trouble updating this one. The blog may have to come later.

I figured out what government hurdles I need to jump through in order to invoice clients. Now I just need to figure out how to pay myself. That seems pretty important.

To be honest, when I decided to start my own company, I was really scared that it would fail. I didn't know if I'd be able to make enough money to support my lifestyle, and I had no idea what steps had to be taken to start a company or secure clients. But if I'd known how easy and lucrative it would be, I would have done it years ago.

So again, Happy New Year! Best wishes for a joyous and prosperous 2009!
